I just wanted to throw a thank you out to Pedigree. I love the "Dogs Rule" series of commercials anyway, but now they've done a great service with their latest round, promoting shelter adoption. Go to their Dog Adoption page and scroll all the way to the bottom to view the commercial. (You'll need RealPlayer installed on your computer to view it.)
Not only is Pedigree promoting shelter adoption with this series of commercials, but they are donating a portion of their sales to help shelter dogs. Bravo for them! They have also supplied valuable information on this Web page, as well as a prominant search tool to find shelters in your area by entering your zip code.
The only distraction from this Web page is the menu item in the top menu bar that says "For Breeders". If it weren't for the breeders, there wouldn't be so many shelter dogs in need of help to begin with. However, you can't look a gift horse in the mouth and Pedigree has obviously realized how important it is to promote shelter adoption. They have the power behind them to put it forth in a huge, national commercial campaign and I can't complain about that.
So, thank you, Pedigree. Please don't stop promoting for the millions of homeless dogs out there. They need a big voice like yours to make people remember them. Keep talking, Pedigree, keep talking.

Hi...
I am also a real shelter dog advocate. After doing the research for my book: Prison Dogs:Hope Behind Bars---my awareness grew even more.
These programs have saved some amazing dogs---most wouldn't have been adopted otherwise. The beauty is that they also "saved" the inmate that trained them. A true win-win! I am keeping a blog of some of the stories and information at: www.blogitorium.com/prisondogsbook
Good work..keep it up!
